London: Day Three
fter an exciting first full day in London, I was eager to get started on my second day. The plan was to check out Camden Market, and then meet up with Katie and Nathan at the British Museum. But first, I strolled through Hyde Park on my way to the Tube. Camden Market was kind of a bust. There were a lot of stalls, but I expected it to be bigger. There were a lot of cute clothes, but the...

London: Day Two
Tuesday morning I woke up early, grabbed some toast, and checked out Kensington. The weather was beautiful (for November): blue skies and not too cold. This is street my hostel was on; the building at the end is the Natural History Museum and just around the corner is the Victoria Albert Museum (unfortunately I didn’t have a chance to check them out when I was there). Typical...

Pictures! →
Okay, so I uploaded most of my pictures today. I’m going to warn you, I haven’t sorted through most of the albums yet (ie no captions, a few duplicates ect) but it’ll give you an idea of what I’ve been up to. Feel free to browse through them if you are interested. London, Morocco, and Gibraltar Ireland and York: the first day, the rest of the Ireland trip, and York ...

London!! The First Night - Swell Season Concert
Okay so prior to going to London, I had two 2000 word essays due (I literally had to have them in 2 hrs before my train). This was really stressful, as I am a huge procrastinator! Knowing the situation though, I tried especially hard to get them done early, but in the end I was still down to the wire. I got them in on time though (and I’m pretty happy with the results - especially as these...

Other exciting things that happened last month...
A bunch of us went to see Death of a Salesman at a theater in York. It was really good, but some of the actors attempts at an American accent were lacking. Jenny and I tried a strawberry peach and custard pasty - and it was heaven. Went out with my friend Max for Pakistani food at Akbars in York. It was so delicious. The Indian/Pakistani food is really good here. We have Chicken Korma a lot...

Kitchen Fire
The excitement didn’t stop after I got back from Newcastle. Friday night we (the 4 communal cookers) decided to have burgers. I contributed the ground beef and made the patties (they all found it hilairous that we call them patties). Then Catrin and I put them under the grill (kind of like a broiler) and closed the door. Well, a few things went wrong (the greasy burgers and pan were too...

Newcastle
Wednesday morning I took a bus into York and caught my train to Newcastle. While my program includes a weekend trip to London, due to some schuduleing and commuication issues, it was scheduled the weekend I arrived at York. Instead they set me up with a trip to newcastle so I could meet up with some U of I students there. While it’s no London, it was still a lot of fun and might have worked...

It's been a busy couple of weeks...
So I left off (a month ago! where has the time gone??) on election day. Since the UK is 6 hrs ahead of the US, I planned on checking out a little of the returns but not staying up all night to hear the results. But once I started watching it was hard to stop - I ended up staying up until 4am! A few of my roommates and I watched it in the college common room, and it was surprisingly packed. A lot...
